Bill,
The list is a senderogroup list; however up to this point dialog on
any blind accessible GPS platform has been welcome and encouraged. I have
not seen anything to make me think otherwise. I feel that this is a
valuable list for its information about all things accessible GPS. I really
hope that people who are excited about other GPS products do not feel that
this is a "Sendero GPS only" list. I am a BN PK user and I really like the
fact that I can walk around with it quite unobtrusibly as well. With that
said I want to know about every other GPS that is available. I will get off
my soapbox. Later
Scott

First off, I didn't realize this was a Sendero dedicated list. Is it? If
so, please accept my apology.
My personal viewpoint though, I'm certainly not going to extol the virtues
of Trekker over any other GPS designed for the blind on any list. I've only
had experience with Trekker and the two factors that caused me to go that
way was the final cost ($1995.00) and the fact that I wouldn't need to carry
anything as bulky as a PacMate or BrailleNote (Trekker runs on a PDA little
larger than a 5-pack of cigars). I have no idea of the effectiveness of the
Sendero or Freedom Scientific products so there's no way I could offer an
intelligent comparison.
And ultimately, these products are tools for those of us that buy them.
That they work at all is miraculous when one thinks about it and my friends
and family are in awe of how helpful they are. AS it is, with the
Trekker/Maestro tucked unobtrusively in my shirt pocket, one of my buddies
says I already offer an imposing presence with my size, the dog, the black
leather jacket and all the electronics pouring out of various pockets.
Imposing is not exactly the image I want to present! ;-)
