Mary Ellen, 

A good test is to place your GPS receiver at a window in your house and make 
sure that the receiver is switched on. Then, you will
want to define an address, then input all of the information for your address 
and define it as a destination. Unless the mapping
data for your area is extremely accurate, the destination can be reported 
anywhere from 50-300 feet away. 

I haven't done it here yet in San Pablo, but many test in Lodi/Stockton 
reported the destination to be over 100 feet away.
