[goodfeel] Re: Transposing a whole piece

Hi,
On that same note, how do you transpose certain parts, such if you are writing a full orchestral score?

Hi, James and all,

Here's a quick tutorial for transposing your entire piece.

Move to first note in piece.

Press CONTROL+K to open Lime's Key Signature dialog.

Enter number of sharps or flats required for the new key.

Tab until you reach the checkbox that says:
Transpose notes and chord symbols
And check it.

Tab once and choose between direction of up or down.

Tab once again to the checkbox that says:
This is a transposing instrument.
If you want to change the written key but preserve the pitch, check this box
and tab once again. If not, simply press enter to change both the written
pitch and the sounding pitch.

If you have tabbed you will hear:
The number of Half-steps Transposing Instrument Sounds 0 Below(-)/Above(+)
Written Pitch

In order to enter the correct value here, you must know about the instrument you are writing for. For Example, if you are preparing a music for clarinet
in B-Flat, that instrument sounds 2 half-steps below concert pitch.
Therefore, you would enter a dash and the number 2 like so:
-2

There are other items in this dialog but in most cases the fields above are
the only ones you will need to reference.

HTH,
Bill

Subject: [goodfeel] Transposing a whole piece

Hi,
I'm trying to transpose a scan of a clarinet piece down into sounding pitch.
The Lime manual isn't hugely helpful here, saying simply:

"...Transpose is most commonly used with Note Group Select;..."

I'm presuming the technique is to highlight the current voice and then use
the transpose function in the Note menu, but I'm getting something wrong,
any ideas?

Thanks, James
