I just meant reconnect the Seagate backup hard drive again once the new hard drive is installed in the laptop. I think I will give it a try. For $30 on eBay it's not a lot to lose. Once I get it installed I will just go from there. Which means I will be asking more questions. Thx, guys, for responding, especially Okra. :-) Libby ----- Original Message ----- From: Tom Wolpert To: geocaching@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2011 8:47 AM Subject: [GeoStL] Re: NGR Computer question What do you mean by "connect it to the backup hard drive?" Assuming you've been good and kept your backups up to date, your backup hard drive has everything you need -- but it's just a passive copy. You're going to have to restore everything from your backup drive to your new system drive. How much you have to restore and how easy (or difficult) it will be depends on what software you use to make the backups. What do you use? Should it be good to go? Libby
