I've had my hard drive replaced twice. Once they were able to transfer over my files etc. The second time it was a clean wipe and I had to reload. So if the drive is still usable, they may be able to transfer the data/files. Everyone should back up their valuable data on an external hard dirve, and the REAL valuable stuff on a CD.
