Another thought is watch the 6 hour sales before Christmas. Last Friday Best
Buy had new Toshiba's for $499 (without rebates!) and CompUSA had Compaq's
for $499 after rebates. New batteries run about $100 or more for laptops so
it gets to a point where there's not much difference between a used and new
one, plus current technology and 1 yr. warranty.
