Tools like the ones you describe are AFAIK illegal under the US DMCA.
Any tool that is intended to defeat *any* kind of copy protection is
illegal under the DMCA and the penalties are sever.

Discussions of tools for defeating copy protection can be treated as
conspiracy to violate the DMCA.

IIRC the punisment for violating the DMCA includes a USD 250,000 fine
for each act in violation of the DMCA.

So... maybe you can understand why those tools are hard to get. And,
maybe you can understand why people in the US may be reluctant to help
you on this subject.

Well, indeed i can now that you point this out. I guess it's time to end this discussion, at least for US cits. Anyone with other suggestions, please contact me off-list. Basically, my need for info on this subject is less than your need not to have the Mickey Mouse Police at your door, either IRL or in cyberspace. And just for the sake of list bandwidth, i was hoping for a quick solution, rather than multiple rounds of maybe this, maybe that. My apologies for any concerns inadvertently raised.

I consider the DMCA to be a direct violation of the right to free
speech. Unfortunately, copyright is written into the original US
Constitution, while free speech was added as an amendment. That makes it
very hard to challenge the DMCA in court in the US.
