>:: Towne Freight > >Forest talked to a sales rep at Towne Freight re hauling a semi-trailer >full of electronic gear to Indy for recycling. A standard trailer will >hold 52 stacked skids. The one-way cost is $500; plus, we lose the value >of the skids and gaylords. Towne will drop off a trailer on-site for two >weeks to load it. Because of the cost, we are unlikely to ever send gear >to Indy for recycling. However, it is good to have facts and figures. I have a question about this: Is there a need to do this? And if we had all the skids ready we could have the trailer loaded in a matter of a couple of hours if we have a forklift and a dock door. Without the dock door what we will need to do is lift the pallets onto the trailer and use a hand jack to move them to the end of the trailer, all in all it should still only take a couple of hours, I can call Ryder and see how much the cost is to rent a truck and a trailer for 1 day (if we can take it to Indy and have it unloaded the same day) and then return the truck and trailer. We need to see what kind of return we will receive on the loads. Remember I do have a valid Class A CDL and would be able to accommodate this.
