Clicked on Ubuntu forum link. Chose "hardware and laptops" forum. Searched
on "modem" and received 137 hits. On the first page, there were howtos for
installing Intel 536ep on Edgy Eft and Conexant on Dapper Kubuntu.
Looks promising.
