Philip,
I think the best way is to not install the PI-SDK from OSISOFT CD-ROM in I/A
System.

You just need these MSI files to be installed:
PIGenericNames.msi+piicusetup.msi+PIsptsetup.msi+fxbais_icu.mis+fxbaissetup.msi
.

I did it without any problem from more than one year know on site.
