Tim, Did you check disk free space on that problem WP ? Terry -----Message d'origine----- De=A0: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx = [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] De la part de Lowell, Tim: Envoy=E9=A0: October 21, 2005 2:46 PM =C0=A0: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Objet=A0: [foxboro] Software Install workaround? I was installing the DST quick fix for FoxView 9.0.1 on all 19 WP51D and B consoles here at the refinery, and after 18 successful installs, the 19th one would not work. After it asks for the first floppy, it reads it, and then asks you to eject it. Then an error message pops up saying that there was an error reading the media, and to check for disk space, other processes, etc. I tried using a different floppy diskette with the same data on it, assigning the floppy drive to that of a WP51D that had already successfully installed, and using the "Remote Install" function from another WP51 that had already successfully installed. Same error every time. This WP51D just doesn't like whatever is on this floppy. =20 So, I tried to run tar tvf /dev/fd0 to read what was on the floppy, and of course, it executed that command with no problem. =20 My question is, is there some sneaky TAC way of doing software installs where you don't have to use the Install_WP "graphical interface", such as it is, and swap floppies? Since the floppies apparently work, couldn't I tar them onto the hard drive and run some magical TAC script that will do the install? =20 Tim Lowell Control Systems Engineer ConocoPhillips Trainer Refinery (610) 364-8362 tim.c.lowell@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx =20 =20 =20 _______________________________________________________________________ This mailing list is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Invensys Process Systems (formerly The Foxboro Company).
