Alex's assessment is correct.....

With this particular QF we had the ability to just tar in because no other
"magic" was needed....i.e...load_sta's pre and post inits..etc.

Also the standard procedure eliminates the human error as many users in the
past tar to the wrong directory and then report that the QF didn't fix their
problem.

That's easy.

A common procedure for all fixes minimizes the chance of improper
installation due to human error.

Additionally, not all installs are that simple. Many have pre- and post-
installation scripts that must be run.

If that is all there is to it, why do we have to run Install_WP at all?
It sure would be nice if you gave these instructions in the quick fix.

I wrote a script to do this and it seems to work fine. Be sure to edit
the appropriate environment files if you do not start in the Initial
environment.
