Thanks... that got it. Deleted /dev/fb0 - fb6 and /dev/fbs/* and then boot -r.

We usually delete the /dev/fb files and then boot -r to reconfigure.
You can have a look at /etc/rc2.d/S99FOXBORO and see how the box decides how
many monitors there are and how it starts its window manager
