Foxboro better not be "dumping" the Solaris boxes...there are many users who do not want to go down that path.....when slammer made its debut early last year the only system on site which wasn't affected was the Foxboro IA....later on "blaster" made its debut...2 days later the "brownout" occurred (Aug 14th,2003).....it was clear early on that a contributing factor in the brownout was the proliferation of Windows platforms on Utility SCADA systems......can there ever be an unbiased report on what exactly occurred on Aug 14th 2004? "To make a long story short, 8.0 will not support the 50 series boxes." Could you clarify this a bit? I wasn't aware Invensys was dumping Solaris that quickly.
