Mid -Atlantic Invensys Users Group Meeting 11/16/01 - Best Western Concordville, Concordville, PA ATTENDEES: David Shepard, Invensys Lew Wright. Invensys Kevin Bailey, Johnson Polymers Stephen Ford, Johnson Polymers Heidi Hartmann, Motiva Virgil Loudermilk, Phillips Bruce Gansner, Phillips Tim Lowell, Phillips Jack Ziegler, Sun Chemicals AGENDA Review of Invensys International Users Group Presentations, David Shepard, VP of Marketing, Invensys * International Users Group in Las Vegas was sparsely attended, but very high energy. Triconex, Esscor, Wonderware and Foxboro were all combined in one group. * Next year's session will also be in Las Vegas PRESENTATION: ACHIEVEMENTS 2001/2002 * CP60 rollout proceeding well - 4000 units installed * Chip supplier changes affected 7% of CP60 units * 200 series FBM's being installed, 800,000 I/O points to date, very successful * V6.3 supports FoxCom and Foundation Fieldbus, better termination assembly, automatic links scheduling for FF. Profibus and HART to be added later. * FoxCAE 4.2 and 5.0 coming out. Better user interface, better connectivity with FF devices. * On-line configuration module on iastore.com to price out a system * NT products - continuing to grow this product line * More links to Wonderware - increased throughput between I/A and Wonderware (factor of 10) * Avantis - Dynamic Maintenance and Asset Management * AIM*AT 3.1 coming out - Wonderlink/Batch Analysis/Web Integration * BatchSuite v8.0 NT/Unix versions - Batch Data Analyzer BEYOND 2001 * What users want: * Higher return * Increased asset utilization * lifetime support * lower engineering, start-up, and maintenance costs * unified data * open, standards-based environment * integration across all manufacturing domains * Investing at 3X of industry average, spread out over all platforms, eliminating duplicate programs within Invensys * Single technology vision - ArchestrA - integrating Unix/Windows, XML, OPC, fieldbuses * Roadmap * v6.3 - I/A and Foundation Fieldbus * I/A and Wonderware@work * v6.4 - adding HART and Profibus * Windows XP and Solaris 8. Looking at "Sun Fire" boxes * Integrating HART as a standard beyond what has been done before * Profibus will support 180 devices with a stand-alone configuration tool * Foxdraw/Foxview v.8.0 1Q2002 * FoxSFC v1.1 1Q2002 * "Commitment to UNIX as long as you want it", but Windows is the future. * COTS Networks (flat 100 MB switched) - removes limit on carrierband LAN modules - developing low tech switching hardware to connect existing nodes to high speed networks * New CP270's, new DIN mounted I/O, new Z-module CP's for switched networks * ArchestrA - common architecture among Invensys companies * New plan for support of existing hardware being developed tentatively called "10-7-5-2" for the years of support at each level, FBM/CP/Network/Version - still in development, might change * Information Suite vision - best of Invensys (usually Wonderware) clients on top of many standard database structures - 24 month timeframe * Connoisseur - 15.0 has AIM*Historian integration, remote support, on-line metrics, better solutions for Pulp & Paper, non-linear Controller for Power Market ORGANIZATIONAL CONVERGENCE * IMaPS, Unified Platform, ArchestrA * IMaPS - Invensys Manufacturing and Process Solutions * ArchestrA - unifying technology combining Wonderware, I/A and Triconex over time * greater ease of use, scalability, functionality * faster integration, configuration, installation * ArchestrA not a product, but a development framework - common framework to eliminate duplication, speed design, leverage industry standards * based on Microsoft .NET technology - Application Oriented Component Model * New Business model for rapid delivery of products and solutions through assembly, not programming ENGINEERING TOOLS * FoxCAE v4.2 -> FoxCAE v5.0 - Intelligent Design Studio - templates from past design projects * ICC v6.3 - Quick online edits -> v6.4 Solaris 8 & Win XP * IFDC/PC20 new field devices and protocols * In Development - Unified Configuration Framework (IAConfig Component) - a PC tool - imports existing configuration files and displays * FoxDraw v 8.0 - still UNIX and NT * IACC - object linking FIELDBUS * A Fieldbus neutral strategy - FF, Profibus, FoxCom, HART * "Plumbing" (different fieldbuses) linked to Applications (Performance, Diagnostics, Maintenance Management, Configuration) * Ethernet is the linkage between Fieldbus and I/A System * Control in I/O and Field devices * Working on all levels from Fieldbus to I/O to Applications to Common Systems ROUNDTABLE * Phillips - experiencing many Micro I/A failures prior to version 6.2.1 Micro I/A upgrade. Failures have gone away since upgrade, except when doing WP tape backups over the nodebus. Failures may be related to nodebus throughput issues. * Motiva - Reluctance to upgrade hardware due to budget issues and difficulty in bringing hardware down for replacement. * Johnson Polymers - looking at ways to improve remote connectivity to I/A System * All - feedback on Cassandra web site is very positive. All sites are using it as a troubleshooting and information tool. * All -Webcast technology becoming more prevalent, was recently used at Phillips for a conference with AspenTech, is Invensys going to do more of that?
