We're finishing up a 11-user deployment of MSCRM now. You're required to at least be running Windows 2000 AD and Exchange 2000. You'll also be required to deploy SQL 2000 as well for your database. Depending on if you're integrating w/ a ERP or other system, there may be additional requirements as well. Integration between Exchange is pretty seemless. There is a small "router" software piece that installs on your Exchange box(es) that will route mail to/from the CRM system. Although the software is relatively painless in terms of install, I'd highly recommend engaging w/ a MBS partner to help guide you through the business processes. The software isn't where most companies need guidance, its the chance in culture that'll be required in most organizations to follow the dicipline of a CRM system. If you're wanting to integrate w/ a 3rd-party ERP or accounting system, do some homework and find one that's worked w/ your particular solution. Feel free to email me offlist if you need any additional info.
