IS Message traking LOG reliable??

Hi All,
Is Message tracking log reliable. Reliable in sense of the time stamping
of receiving and sending the mails which it publishes in log.
I need to get the accurate time taken for a mail which is been sent from
one mail box and received on other in EXCHANGE.
So if transaction log is reliable then how to parse in the readable
format .. and if not than is there any script which performs the same
action
