Ian, I loathed the Comfort of Strangers, but I'm glad it got you through your difficult day. I liked Saturday,and Enduring Love, and to a lesser extent Amsterdam, though the people were very unattractive. I preferred the film of Atonement. Funny how we can agree about finding authors uneven, but go in different directions about particular books. The Innocent was another odd one, but a page-turner. Clare
