Hi George, Thought I had seen a six key keyboard entry at QAC 5 years ago - might have been the one you sell now but at the time it was a guy with an external BrailleNote type of gear that produced output on a laptop. Perhaps one day laptops will come with the option of a 6/8 Key Braille entry method - that would be an AT killer because all you would need is DOS and speech synthesis and simple magnification (built in Lunar for example for DOS). Regards, John. -----Original Message----- From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of George Bell Sent: 24 June 2008 17:13 To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] Re: braille on laptop Hi John, It's actually the 6 key entry into DBT using the fdsjkl keys on a normal laptop or desktop keyboard. Many modern keyboards do not allow you to press multiple alphabetic key together - a few do. Could be wrong. I have always checked them prior to purchasing, but in the past all laptops of these brands have been successful. My current laptop was purchased in late 2004. I have had no problems with XP. I have not checked out any of the newer computers using Vista. Mary Lou Stark -------------- Original message from "Karen Marechal" <karen.marechal@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>: -------------- Please help: Does anyone use a newer model laptop to do direct braille by using the keyboard of the laptop and not a external one, if so could you please give me a model name and number.
