Hi George,
Thought I had seen a six key keyboard entry at QAC 5 years ago - might have
been the one you sell now but at the time it was a guy with an external
BrailleNote type of gear that produced output on a laptop. Perhaps one day
laptops will come with the option of a 6/8 Key Braille entry method - that
would be an AT killer because all you would need is DOS and speech synthesis
and simple magnification (built in Lunar for example for DOS).

Regards,
John.

Hi John,

It's actually the 6 key entry into DBT using the fdsjkl keys on a normal
laptop or desktop keyboard. Many modern keyboards do not allow you to press
multiple alphabetic key together - a few do.

George.

Mary Lou,
I think Karen was looking at a six-key keyboard entry built into the laptop
instead of external 6 key keyboard. Could be wrong.

Regards,
John.

I have used both Toshiba and Gateway laptops with six key entry with no
problems. I have always checked them prior to purchasing, but in the past
all laptops of these brands have been successful. My current laptop was
purchased in late 2004. I have had no problems with XP. I have not checked
out any of the newer computers using Vista.

        Please help:
Does anyone use a newer model laptop to do direct braille by using
the keyboard of the laptop and not a external one, if so could you please
give me a model name and number.
        Thanks very much
