Hi Catherine, The old method of "tick and stick" was risky and unpopular. People would check a grade of braille for themselves, then someone else would come along, not realise the change, and produce a whole document in the wrong grade. The best way to do what you want is with a Template. Here's how. This will take a minute or two, but will give you a long term solution. I am also assuming here that you will be using the "English (American) - Standard Literary Format." 1) Open a new blank print document in DBT. 2) From the Document menu, select "Add Style" 3) In the New Style Name box, type the name "initial" - with no quotes, and all lower case. Click on O.K. 4) A new dialog comes up. In the Beginning Codes box, enter the two codes [tx] followed by [g1] (remembering to enter them using ctrl + [) 5) Click on O.K. to save the Style. 6) From the Document menu, select "Create Template". 7) In the "Create New template" text box (which will contain the words "untitled template") type in a name for your Template. For example, "Grade 1 Literary (US)" 8) Close the document. If you now go to open a new document in DBT, you should find a Template listed called "Grade 1 Literary (US)" (or whatever you called yours) in the list. Before you use it with serious work, please do a short test to make sure you are getting grade 1 braille produced. In earlier versions of Duxbury it was possible to use a menu to change the grade of Braille so that it stayed changed until it was switched back again. As I explained in a prior message, the person needs to prepare a number of documents in Grade one Braille for a particular project. If I understand you correctly, there is no way of changing the default so to speak temporarily except by changing it for each and every document no matter how short. Personally I think this is a change for the worse in Duxbury. If anybody can suggest another way of handling this problem, please advise.
