I have two embossers.
I use the Juliet for materials that are "text only." It has nice, rounded dots.
I use the ViewPlus (a.k.a. Tiger Max) for pages with graphics or mixed forms.
So far my students don't mind. I think it is good for them to feel different
types of dots, because books from other sources may feel different than they do
from our embossers.

Just my opinion, but my students did do all right with the Tiger embossers.
Maybe if you make it less 'high' the student would like it better, but my
understanding is that for tactiles, the Tiger embossers produce a better image.

Yes - replace your Tiger Max embosser! I have the same problem and have not
been able to resolve it. There are ways to change the height of the dots, but
the roughness remains. I am hoping to replace my Tiger Max soon. I prefer the
Index BasicD v5 embosser.
To change the dot height go to the embosser print properties, Tiger setting,
and click on the height you want. It is set on normal by default. However, as
mentioned, this will not solve the roughness problem. I think this is an
embosser issue. The Tiger Max is good for graphics, and the dots are smoother
for graphics, but for regular braille, they are not smooth.

Hi, I recently had a request to change the feel of the Braille dots on my
printer because they're a little pokier rather than round. One of our students
is having difficulty because of it. Does anyone know if we have the capability
of doing that?
I'm using a ViewPlus Tiger Max embosser with Duxbury, Tactileview and Tiger
Software Suite.
