hi Linda,I'm pasting a quick set of what that keypad is used for. As you go through this, take note of how to reset the embosser to factory defaults. I suggest that as a starting point. Then when you have done that, set it to use menu 1 as the default on startup. At least that's a typical choice for a PC. The instructions for that are given. Then when you first put the paper in the embosser, you must set top of form. Again, this tells you how. From then, any settings should be done through Duxbury itself for lines per page, etc. Have you properly defined your embosser under Global embosser settings and set it up as a Windows generic printer?
Below is the listing for the embosser keypad values. Quick Guide to Enabling Braille Embossers 1) Prepare document. Translate documents for 40 or 30 cells across (depending on paper) and 25 lines down. Thomas, Marathon, Romeo 25, Romeo Pro 50 & Romeo Classic are single-sided. ET, all Juliets, BookMaker, & Braille Express are interpoint (Braille on both sides at once). 2) Install Braille paper and connect to computer. Position paper in tractors under left clamp and partially under main embosser area, as far left as is practical. Connect embosser to (preferably) computer's parallel port and turn on the power. 3) Reset embosser to factory defaults (if you're not sure how it was last used) OL Off-line 0.0E Service Menu 95E Reset 1E Exit Service Menu 4) Adjust margins in embosser settings. Important for interpoint! Makes Braille emboss in correct left-to-right position on paper. OL Off-line 0.1E Enter Menu #1 30.03E Typical Braille top margin (.03 means three-tenths of an inch) 23.1E Recognize ESCAPE sequences (essential for graphics & does not harm text) 15.01E Left margin 14.40E Right margin for wide paper OR 14.30E Right margin for narrow paper (8.5 by 11 inches) 1.1E Reset embosser & use these settings 5) Set top-of-form. Makes Braille start in the same place on each sheet of paper. OL Off-line 2E Embosser finds top of form & resets, ready to run 6) Copy document from DOS prompt to parallel port: c:\>COPY MYFILE.BRF LPT1: Multi-Copy Make a lot of copies of the same document. Run a complete test file first to check format. Then stay ON-LINE and enter: 3.0E Activate multi-copy mode Copy document from computer to embosser. After document copies completely to embosser, enter (while still ON-LINE): 3.1E Tell embosser that copying is complete and 4.nNE Tell embosser to print "nn" copies of document. "NN" is a number, 1 to 99 Other Options in Multi-Copy 3.2E Halts printing at end of current copy 3.4E Suspend multi-copy at top of next sheet then 3.5E Resume multi-copy where you left off (after 3.4E) Menus: There are 16, but Menu #1 is most used because it's for an IBM PC with a parallel port. 0.NE Places you in menu #N (1 through 16) 1.1E Exits & makes this menu current Menu Settings (all items in all 16 menus) 1.0E Default to this menu on power up 1.1E Exit this menu and use it now 2.0E Get all data from the serial port 2.1E Get all data from the parallel port 3.NE Serial only: Sets baud rate to N 4.NE Serial only: Sets the number of data bits to N 5.NE Serial only: Sets the number of stop bits to N 6.NE Serial only: Selects parity.
