Jack, Before release, we will be warning you about any template overwrite -- not just overwrite of a standard template. Moreover, yes, by write-protecting the file, you can prevent DBT overwriting any template. However, in this case, you'll get the bad error message that George originally reported on this thread: "Error opening new Template file." - Peter -----Original Message----- From: duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jack Maartman Sent: Thursday, July 22, 2004 12:33 PM To: duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxhelp] Re: Templates This is something I want to avoid at all costs. Would setting the flag with chmod, I mean attrib prevent this or would DBT crash. I have long wanted a list of file types and their functions, but I suppose the days of technical references is long over. There is a wealth of information in the list, and I have scrupulously saved each message. as everybody knows it is scintillating reading, in lieu of a soporific. cheers Jack ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Bell" <george@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, July 22, 2004 8:18 AM Subject: [duxhelp] Re: Templates As a matter of fact, Jack, that is exactly what I mean. Not all of them, but enough to make it a very serious worry. Besides as I am sure you know yourself, it has more or less become an accepted practice in computing to warn a user if a file is to be overwritten.
