Ahh....
Another broke mob! Dad grew up in elegant poverty 'cause they still had
some stuff, taste for nice clothing, business plans, ability to borrow,
practical skills like horse management and a decent education. However,
after building a lovely home, Grandad lost the lot again just before the
depression by unsuccessfully trying to settle a property dispute in a
deceased estate. The courts revoked his license to practise as an
accountant so the Mitchells, gave him a job bookkeeping on 'The Grange'
near Dongara until he returned to Geraldton as an auctioneer and
developer. Sadly the depression left him penniless in a rental,
dependant on the pension plus annual trips to Frank Green's farm to 'do
the books' and a pound a week from Mr Fong in gratitude for keeping his
accounts during the depression with only 'payment in kind'.
