[dokuwiki] Templates vs. skins

Hello,
i'm always confused about whats called a "template" in Dokuwiki.
This could be a page that is used for template but also a layout of
the whole wiki.
Would'nt it be better to name them "Skins" or "Layouts" ?
(Of course, the directory they reside should be renamed that way)
