I don't think it matters whether you are talking about CD, CDR or CDRW, different versions of Windows may report different values for cluster sizes (i.e minimum space used by a file). This is not a fault in high-level code (e.g. Explorer) but in the lower level stuff. My own program (Maverick) reads cluster sizes and shows precisely the same inconsistencies. Perhaps it's a copout, but I decided that even if I managed to work out a way to calculate the correct size, users would tend to think that my program was at fault rather than Windows, so I just left it as is. -- James Turner www.skaro.net PS I use DirectCD under Win 2000 on an external USB drive. So far, it seems to work perfectly but I haven't carried out the sort of testing I usually do on such technologies.
