Couldn't you turn off the sound card on the motherboard? Then when the Audigy
is installed,
performance shouldn't be affected because additional IRQ's that the motherboard
sound card was using
will be freed up.
You are right though, Jim doesn't really need to have the Audigy installed. I
to have a sound
card on my motherboard. However, I have turned it off in the bios. I elected
to put in a Sound
Blaster Platinum because I new that when performing a clean install of Windows
XP home, XP would
find the audio drivers. I would therefore have speech enabled from the
earliest opportunity.
