Even monitors are colored somewhat. To quote Tom Kingston, after you have mixed a project, play it over several speaker systems... in the car, home stereo, etc. If your mix sounds good on all of them, then you've got a mix worth burning to CD.

Flat frequency response is the main reason. Hi fi speakers or multi
media/computer speakers are often colored, quite a lot on the high end
and they tend to lack mids. You won't be able to mix accuretly on those
unless you really can makeup for the difference. It won't translate
well to other playback systems etc.

Stupid question for you all. But I need a good definition or a reason
why
you would rather mix on professional monitors verses mixing on a set of
Multimedia speakers with a subwoofer?

11 For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. 14 I will be found by you," says the Lord.
