As far as getting the greatest collection of instruments in one box,
Dimension pro is the hands down Swiss Army Knife of music making.  There
are individual synths that do individual things better, but you can't
touch the collection for the price.

Dimension Pro is very good, but I believe that there may be others that
are 
better. For example Ivory is the best acoustic piano soft synth I've
ever 
heard, but it's not accessible.
