yep, for putting music on paper, Sonar is not what you need.

My other advice would be to get this in advance of the start of your course, so you can learn Lime Aloud and whatever you need to learn about how sighted people read music. You don't want to be trying to complete course assignments on time along with trying to learn new software and ways of doing things. I tried that once, learning software while taking counterpoint, traditional harmony, jazz harmony etc. all in the same semester and it was not fun.
