As far as I understand, sonar 5 supports both 32 and 64.
Sonar 5.2 came out with seperat upgrade one for 64 and one for 32.
I don't know about sonar 4 for dual core cpu. Sonar 4 supports hyper
threading though.
And windows xp 64 bit edition and windows vista, (not released yet), are
different versions.
Anyone knows if dancing dot's gonna release script for sonar 5 or wait for
windows vista?
I bet when vista comes out a lot of things would be changed: Jaws and sonar
for sure.

I hate to spoil the myth, but dual processors don't actually double the speed of your system without software which can make use of the process.
Before investing in such a beast, check with your software manufacturer to see if their software is designed for dual processor use.
You may find you are in for a few disappointments.

Hi Chi!!
You may want to consider upgrading your CPU to a duel core processor. Duel core processors are chips that have 2 processors on one chip. For example, if you had a duel core 3 gig then, in actual fact, you would have 6 gig of processing power.
Regarding the 64 bit version of Windows, Jaws or, CT don't work on it at all. I am not sure if Jaws will ever be coded for the 64 bit version of Windows Xp. They may get around to coding it for vista though.

hard drives.Hi,
I have a 2.9ghz intel cpu, 1gb ddr ram, and 2 300gb sata
At first, I was doing small production like rhythm sectionplus vocal, and I had no problem in
found myself involved with bigger projectsterms of computer power. But as I aproach my graduation from a music college, I
such as dealing with studio orchestra with lots ofadditional tracks (rhythm section, synth,
commercial studio with protool, then I bringvoice, and so on). My school provide record session at a professional
the entire session on a hard drive and import on a sonarproject that I've been already working on
sluggish, and it caused drop outswith some midi tracks to be added with live recording. When loading the heavy project, jaws started to become
especially when inserting some indivisual effects forcertain tracks and bus effects.
I'm using asio with 512 latency. I can't even think about128 latency. it won't even start
realized there are quite a few upgradesplaying. Just drop out before playback! Anyways, I was thinking about upgrading my system, but I
upgrade, and I believe windows vista iscoming up. Sonar upgraded to 5.2, and jaws released public beta
Development.coming out sometimes later. Top of that, there's new jaws script for sonar from JSonar
Not to mention, there's sibelius that I need to use tomake scores for orchestra and so on.
think I should do? I'd appreciate allSibelius also upgraded. I'm lost with all those near future stuff. What do you all
