Dan,
Be cool. Like you, I'm just a customer. I don't own any
companies. Also like you, I would appreciate being able to stay current
with software. However, I don't employ anyone. No one "employs" David
Pinto. He owns a product which Bill sells. Bill doesn't employ David.
David hasn't had time to further develop Sibelius Speaking. However, he
will in the future.

Dear Kevin,
Digidesign does not own Sibelius or M-Audio. They are the makers of
ProTools only. All three companies are in fact owned by Avid. I don't
think that Sibelius would thank anyone for this kind of misinformation.
Sibelius 4 has features which are not available in version 3 so simply
hiding behind the fact that Sibelius 3 files can be opened or saved in
Sibelius 4 is not the solution,. More importantly, a lot of academic
and
proffessional establishments are using Sibelius 4 now and it is not as
easy
as you lead us to believe to obtain Sibelius 3. This is only made
possible
by a special arrangement which was made with Sibelius and it requires
them
to burn off a copy of Sibelius 3 everytime they sell a copy of Sibelius
4 to
a blind user. This arrangement is based on nothing more than good will
and
to rely on this good will as an excuse not to develop Sibelius Speaking
in
the mean time is dubious proffessional practice at best.
If you are saying that the only reason for not developing Sibelius
Speaking
is that David Pinto does not have the time then I think that you should
give
serious consideration to the number of programmers that you employ.
Whilst
I am sure that many people are greatful for the work that has been done
in
scripting Sonar I would remind you that it is not the only product which
you
sell and the owners of this software deserve better treatment.
It is very difficult not to feel as though Sibelius 3 users have simply
been
abbandoned. Sibelius 4 was released a long time ago and some of the
more
important features in Sibelius 3 are not accessible even now.
