Hi, Rubens,

Your sighted assistant only needs to be able to read the display and press
the buttons to alter settings. That is, the assistant does not necessarily
need to have a technical background.

If you have no assistant who can be there with you, perhaps you could use a
webcam or iPhone to show the display to a sighted helper over a video
connection.

Yes, you might substitute the Kawai keyboard just in case it works
automatically. That is, you may not need to change any internal settings of
the Kawai in order to use it with SONAR.

Bill

Hi bill,

You said something interesting but which I am not able to solve:
Sounds like you will need help from a sighted assistant to find global edit
mode on your QS 8 and then change the I/O setting to "MIDI". BTW, I/O must
be an abbreviation for input/output.

The person who could possibly help me is no longer available and does not
even reply to my messages not counting the fact that his English isn't
sufficient to understand technical jargons. so, I am wondering:

Is this Alises KS8 a well-known keyboard? I bought mine way back in 1999
and, if I could find a kind of user list on the Web maybe someone could help
me by directing to which buttons to press and so on just like I did once
solving sonar problems.

I have here an old Kawai that has midis and wonder if I should try the same
experiment with it to see if it will really work but, even it it does,
Alises is what I really need--so, that wouldn't solve it, would it?

thanks for your help.

best,

Rubens
