Dear Sean,
I have never had any problems with external drives other then their general
quality. Western Digital rivals C-Gate. As Gord said, the best is to go with
fire wire. The only reason I recommend using the combo USB/Firewire drive, is
so that you don't run into any situations where you can't access your file if
there is no firewire facilities.
