If you are using any version of sonar above 3, if you have a multiple outputs sound card, why not use the audio metronome and just set the out put to a dedicated bus? Then just send the bus's output to say output 2 of the sound card and plug the headphones/headphone's amp there? Or just set the output of the metronome to another output on the card? When you enable the audio metronome that output option becomes available all the way at the end of the metronome dialog. Hi SB., I found this post which kind of covers what you are talking about. They are using a Korg Triton as their midi source but you can use a soft synth as your midi source. You want to find a soft synth that will make the metronom sound you desire so, you might want to go with the Roland soft synth and choose one of the drum kits. This is because the kit sounds, such as a snare, will become your midi metronom based sound. One thing to note is that you will want to set the audio track related to your midi metronom to the output of your audio card/controller. If you still want to have your player hear only the metronom and the sounds they are playing, you will probably need to have an audio card/controller with multiple outputs or use more than one audio card/controller. This way you can direct the sounds you want your player to hear and you can decide what you want to hear as the producer. You'd just plug their headphones into the associated output of the audio card/controller. All of this can be avoided if you settle for hearing the metronom as well. smile. Here is the post. To skip past all the crap leading up to the goods, use the Control F find keystroke and type "producer". This will bring you right to the steps this guy discovered will do what I believe you are trying to do. http://www.soundsonline-forums.com/showthread.php?t=12830 Let us know how it goes. Someone else might have a better solution here. Good luck. Thanks. I figured there was a metronone page somewhere. I will try this tomorrow night. Thanks for the info. By the way, do you know if you can send just the metronone out of a single output, say to a drummer's headphones? I've pondered on how to do this--muting the instruments for him would also mean muting the tracks for me at the control helm, right? I just don't know if Sonar has an output for the metronone, but I will go see. Thanks, again for your help. Date: Mon, 16 Feb 2009 23:07:14 -0500 Hi Stacy, Go to menu bar, tools, project, control Tab to metronome, Tab along until the set metronome as wav or audio (or something like that) and, if you want to hear it while you play, check that box with the spacebar and, if you want to hear it while you record, check that box. You'll notice the settings for changing the volume levels for the metronome cliks or pings. they should be fine the way they are. Then Tab to ok and that should do it. hth. Also, there are no bad questions, ever. Hello. I've enjoyed reading these post for the past few weeks. I wish I was as smart as you guys. I am somewhat new to Sonar 7 and will probably post many stupid questions in the next few months. My question is: I can use the hot keys to turn the metronone to a MIDI synth, but I hear nothing. (I've been using the WAV sound.) I assume I am to run it through one of my soft synths but I don't know how. Can anyone give me a brief idea on how to do this? I would appreciate any help.
