That is exactly what I'm trying to do. It use to work on an earlier version of
both Sonar and SF. SF is showing up on the Tools menu.

I hope he's running the item in Sonar that exports, pops open Sound
forge, and opens the audio file. Sonar reimports the audio upon
closing Sound Forge, once you're done editing.
There is more info here, if Sound forge is not shown on the Tools
menu in Sonar and you'd like to set this up.
