A peak/dip is bassically like taking a straight line, and pulling the middle
down or up. You get a sort of valley or mound, when you do this. In a normal
Eq set-up, you can have any number of bands, which you can make these peaks or
valleys. So in the 4 band EQ, you have four places along the line of all
available frequency, from 1 hertz to 44.1 KHZ where you can make a point or
dip. The Q setting will let you know how wide of a curve you want to make. A
small number on the Q will make a very small steep point, whereas a large q
will make more of a large broad cut in the line.

kirt, what is a peak dip? I presume it has something to do with high
frequencies?

I'm not entirely sure of your question, but you can select the type of EQ
curve, and in this case, it sounds like you want a low shelf. So, you set the
band frequency to where you want the shelf to start cutting, and all
frequencies below that will be attenuated. You can also use a peak dip, and
have a broader Q. Sorry if I didn't answer your question completely.

      Question:

I know I need to cut the bottom frequencies of a bass, now, using an EQ,
let's say I am cutting from a range of frequencies, how do I go about setting
up the parameters of any EQ in sonar 4. You can use any range of frequency to
demonstrate that for me please. Thanks
