Thanks Shawn. Yes, the coaches are covered – we are more concerned about the
team. We do expect parents to have personal insurance, so perhaps this is how
this was thought of in the past. However, this could be a gray area, and as
you know, this is tested only when there is an issue.
We will look into K&K. Do you carry it just for the summer months that swim
team is in session? Do you happen to know the cost?
Much thanks and good luck with the meet tomorrow. I cannot be there, as work
will keep me away. I hope your team does well and enjoys your time at
Collindale.

Hi Heidi,
Shawn from Village Green: We carry K&K sports liability insurance to cover
swimmers at our pool & competing at away meets. The coaches carry their own
liability insurance, as we treat them as consultants versus employees. I would
be willing to bet your coaches have liability insurance that they carry as part
of their FAST coaching.

Just a quick question. No one on our new board has ever seen the information
packet that has gone out for the State Meet entries in the past. One of the
things that caught our attention was the section about “Insurance – signed by
Coach”. We were wondering how other teams in the League dealt with this - or
is this a new thing? I do know that a few teams out there carry their own
liability insurance, but to our collective knowledge, Collindale swim team has
not, though we may be wrong on that. We are however organized differently than
in years past, so that may be a key. It is something we are looking into with
all seriousness as quickly as possible.
