Amanda, all apologies for not responding to your feedback on the State Meet.
When I was asking coaches to encourage kids to be available to swim on
relays, I was hoping it would be more along the lines of an invitation and
making it something special! It's kind of a big deal to go down to state -
though also a big commitment. Having been there in the past, I do know it's
hard to swim a relay first thing in the morning, and then not swim again
until the end of the day relays. It's a long day and a lot of waiting in
between during hot weather! It's also hard to just go to swim maybe one
event that the swimmer qualified for - and nothing more.

That is why I think it's important to invite/encourage others to participate
in relays. That way kids have some friends to hand out with during the day.

Just my two cents worth.

As far as I can see committed for the State meet -

Dubois

Grove - one kid each day

Hutton

McEndaffer

Mechtenberg

Siple - 1 kid each day

I was hoping to try to reserve a block of hotel rooms soon - but right now
it's 6 families and a coach. Any idea if you think any kids are close and
might make it before State? Any thoughts to who might be willing to go on
relays? I need to contact each family to see what kind and how many rooms
they think they might need. I think it's easy to reserve more rooms than
needed and then release them than it is to try to reserve more.

Anyone else's thoughts on this would be most helpful.

-Heidi
