It's just that cr.MP covers some spots that the other anti-airs typically don't. As a last resort, sure I could use EX tatsu, but if you had the option to use a meterless anti-air option instead of an option that requires meter, which would you rather use? :) Guy needs meter to be truly effective, and not just for reversal/anti-air situations. If it turns out that one would have to use his ex tatsu more often just for anti-air purposes, I'm not going to be too fond of that.
