research using student work

Hi! I need help!
Without going into details of my pain, could anyone tell me if in
their experience or best guest if it is IRB approved and/or ethical to
use anonymous student papers without knowing whether or not those
students approved those papers for use?
What about student papers from the internet? Do you think I can
analyze them without getting the students to approve my use of the
papers?
I've about lost it.
