They will be out of school in the morning and back for lunch. Please make sure they bring a coat, whatever the weather! We will be doing some activities around the garden centre and having a snack in the café. Travel to and from the garden centre will be by mini bus with seat belts. All costs are being met by the school. Permission has already been received through the form signed in September; however, if you have any concerns regarding the trip please contact Mrs Yale as soon as possible. After School Clubs ? Keep Fit We regret that Keep Fit will have to be cancelled this coming Friday, 2 May. Year 4 Swimming Pupils in Year 4 will commence swimming tuition on Thursday, 1 May. * The swimming sessions are paid by the school budget at no extra cost to parents. All children are therefore expected to participate every week. * Children need a swimming costume / trunks (not shorts), a swimming hat (named in large letters on outside) and a named towel. * Children are discouraged from wearing goggles and nose clips. If your child must wear them for medical reasons please obtain a separate permission form from your child?s class teacher. * Children will swim every Thursday until the Easter holidays in Year 5, except the first full week of every term (these are called ?dry weeks?). During dry weeks booster swimming is offered. * The session is led by a qualified swimming teacher. A qualified teacher from school (usually Mr Metcalfe) accompanies the children on the coach with an assistant. Children often work in three groups, depending upon abilities. * If children are encouraged to swim at other times during the week this has a positive impact on their ability to be a good swimmer. Environmental Sticker Competition The Environmental Team are running a Sticker Competition. These stickers are to promote positive ?environmental messages? through the school e.g. saving energy, recycling etc. Entries should be provided on A6 size paper and put in the box in the Library.
