Newsletter No: 22 Date: 2nd March 2010. Praise Assembly The teachers had a hard choice last week, trying to decide who to choose to put 'on the bench' last Friday - but well done to all those who were chosen. They were: Reception Team Point Winners Last week's winners - Ash Winners of the Broad Oak Governors' Dinner Time Trophy Last week's winners - Year 2 Evan Jones Year 1 Leon Freeman Year 2 Gemma Wilkinson Year 3 Ashley Brown and Marcus Calvert Year 4 Glyn Hughes Year 5 Olivia Heaton Year 6 Thomas Hughes and Olivia Parkinson Sports Results Now that the nights are drawing out, the next set of fixtures for Netball and Football have begun again. The Netball team have made a super start to the second half of the season winning both of their matches. We beat Ashbridge 3-1 and then beat Our Lady and St Gerards 2-0. The team played exceptionally well and Mrs Sutton and Mrs Longdon named Naomi and Nicole Sharples as player of each match. The football team didn't fair as well though and lost both of their matches. Mr Bromley was rather vague about the actual results but wanted me to put that he was very pleased with the team's performances and named Luke Flintoff and Conner Campbell as player of each match. Well done to all our teams and thank you to the staff for giving up their time so that these fixtures can be played. Thanks also to the parents and supporters who came on the night to cheer on our teams!! After School Clubs - Football Practice Please note that, with effect from this week, football practice for Years 5 & 6 will change from Wednesdays to Thursdays until further notice. Start and pick up times remain the same. Reminder for Y6 Parents - Hothersall Lodge The third payment of £70 is due by Tuesday, 9th March, bringing the total payments so far to £180.00. The final instalment of £84.00 should be paid by Tuesday, 18th May at the latest. Car Parking Please can I remind you that the car parks on the school site are for Staff and Visitor parking only during school hours. One or two parents/carers seem to be forgetting this and are parking or dropping off in the car parks. This makes the parking areas unsafe and congested at the busiest times of the day. World Book Day Voucher Your child will be bringing a £1.00 book voucher home later this week. This can be redeemed against most books at a book shop - or can be exchanged for specific £1.00 books stocked at many of the leading supermarkets. Active Travel Week Don't forget that it is active travel week this week - where we ask Parents and Carers to try to journey to school without using a car. I know for some families this will prove to be very difficult, but for those who do live nearer to school, it's a week to stretch your legs and walk or even jog to school. Hopefully you received a diary last Friday - once the diary is completed - return it to school and then there will be the usual reward!! Reminder - Year 3 Viking Trip Parents who have not already done so are asked to please send into school £8.50 (plus £1.85 for lunch if appropriate) by Wednesday, 3rd March. If you require a copy of the original letter and return forms, please contact the school office. Scholastic Book Club Attached is a leaflet giving details of reasonably priced books which can be ordered on line at www.clubs.scholastic.co.uk<http://www.clubs.scholastic.co.uk/> and these will be delivered direct to your home address.
