The ice storm we had in Galax over the weekend has produced
several new "yard" birds for my house. I have had 2 Fox
Sparrows show up on Sunday (16th) and have been here every
day since. Also, yesterday and today (17 - 18) I have had
my first flock of Red-wings for the year. Included in this
flock was one lonely, female Rusty Blackbird. Sometimes when
the weather is to bad to get out, watching your feeder is not
all that bad. 6 species of sparrows so far this week: Fox,
Song, White-throat, Field, Chipping and House sparrows.
