There are many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that many people use 
Voicenotes. Beyond that, though, the ability to speak a code is directly 
related to the ability to print/translate it. Both functions come back to the 
same core problem: Keysoft needs to understand the code before it can do 
anything. Once it understands what the rules and symbols for a given code are, 
then you pretty much get translation, printing, speaking, displaying on a 
monitor, and so on for free.
