I have used it. It's for if you have a serial cord, but your computer only has usb ports and does not have a serial port. That way, if you want to hook an apex up to a computer to use keyview, but you only have a serial cord and your computer does not have bluetooth, you can still connect the Apex and computer.

The USB with the little block at the end is a USB to serial cord.
I've had my Apex since June and I haven't the slightest Idea as
to what it's for. I think it's for connecting the BrailleNote to
a PC, but it's easier to use a USB cord, especially since you
don't really see serial ports that often anymore.
