Yeah, it was bad. We were both up till about two thirty. Now that's not unusual for me, but I was just a middle-schooler at the time. It was bad bad bad...by the end of it, I was sort of slowly dying a tormented death, and she was so desperate she was prompting me with suggestions. After that, she signed me up for computer classes with Jaws and stuff. I'm glad. I was and am extremely grateful for all she's ever done, but I really hate to not be able to do something like that myself. Then if it's good, well, I did it, and if it's not there's no one to blame but me. My teacher was horrified when she heard all we'd gone through for that term paper (Mom told her in a light way, because everyone else was telling their sob stories). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shannon" <shannon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Ugh. *shudders* Sounds both un-fun for you and your poor mom hehe.

Yeah, that would definitely hurt. I freaked out just having to do notes and the rough draft of a term paper. Actually I don't know if I ever got the rough draft. This was in seventh grade. I had something like thirty pages of notes, and then a ten-page outline, and by the time I finished all that up (on the last night of the project) I had to sort of kind of dictate the whole thing to my mom. I wasn't computer literate at the time, which made that assignment very unfun!

Senior thesis in economics on a Braille writer? I am now deeply impressed.

The first computer I got was an Apple II E.

It was around 1982 or so and I had already had been working for six years or so.

I got through college and my graduate courses using a typewriter, open reel tape recorder and casettes when they first came out.

Oh course I used a braille writer and lots of paper to write my senior thesis in economics first draft. Then I typed it. Then my friend clean typed it so it had no typos and so forth.
