Gale, One thing you might try is judging the price, and number of cassettes or cads are contained in the book. Also, if gone with the wind has a running time of 30 mins, you know you're in trouble. I don't like abridged books either. I stopped buying audio books for that reason. I got a couple that were abridged and didn't like that. The trouble with commercial audio books is that you have to read almost everything on the package to find out if they're abridged and that's a real pain when you have to get someone else to read it. Besides, so many were abridged that I decided it was a waste of time and they're too expensive to be abridged.
