Okay, I think I'm the one who originally started this when I asked about a way to bypass the spanish titles when browsing the list of new books. I suggested that the bookshare staff consider adding a function to search criteria by language. The only reason I brought this up was that there were a huge number of spanish titles which would be of no use to those of us who do not understand the language. With an addition to the search criteria, we could bypass those titles in other languages which either don't interest us or which we simply cannot read due to our lack of knowledge of the language. The addition of books in other languages is a great thing for many reasons. For one thing, if you are attempting to learn another language, it is really helpful to be able to read books in that language. I can only wish such a capability had existed when I was in school. But that was then and this is now. I no longer have an interest in such books and really would appreciate a way to avoid having to wade through large numbers of them. On the other side, the ability to search by language would really be helpful to those who, for whatever reason, would like to see a listing of only those books in a particular language without having to plow through many other titles in which they are not interested. The social issue is an important one and I, like many others, have my own opinions about that. But, this is certainly not the place to discuss them and my original question certainly was not intended to raise the issue. I do hope we can get past all the noise about the social issues here and focus back on possible ways to improve our searching capabilities on the bookshare site. That's really all I have to say on the subject.
