Hello, Friends,

I thought I would chime in on this subject as well. Since I use the BrailleNote or Voicenote, I either download onto the machine itself or, more of late, onto a compact flash card. In that way, I can read from either machine just by moving the card. I have not been keeping the boks after reading, though I suppose I could. I always figure I can go back to Bookshare and get them again if I want.

I would be interested in figuring out just how I could read on my laptop, and you all have discussed this on list. I suppose I could put my Kurzweil program on here to open books on here that way and actualy wouldn't mind having my scanner able to work with this machine as wel. Since I am retired, I prefer to sit in my easy chair to read, not at my desk. Besides, in a pinch, my scanner is flat enough that I believe I c ould place it in a case with my laptop to read away from home if that became necessary, particularly for things one might do at a library using reference books one can't take out of the library.

I just wish I had had all of these wonderful things when I was in college.

Hi Debra,
I save my books onto a compact flash card. I separate all my books by author. I can then pop my compact card into my MPower and read from there. I don't read off of the desk top. Also this way I always have my library with me, wherever I go. Also for some management, I keep a file on my desk top, just a listing of authors and their books listed under their name. I star the author's name and simply list the book titles under the name.
Hope this helps.
Bertha

Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Housekeeping Questions

I was wondering several things.....

Sometimes I get into a download frenzy........and don't count how many downloads I've done. I know there is a 100 book limit per month; is there some sort of counter to keep track or what?

I know there has to be a better or rather more efficient way to store books. Right now I download into a desktop file called BookShare. I must have over 300 books in there; all jumbled together with no rhyme or reason. I used to take great pride in how neat my bookshelves were when I had print books lined up on my bookshelves, categorized by author and subjects. Any suggestions whould be greatly appreciated.

Debra
